The consulting service at the Equal Opportunities Office offers advice to all students and employees on a wide range of topics from family issues to experiences of discrimination.

Consulting builds on trust

This much is certain! Everything you say or write to us remains between us: we do not pass on any information about your concerns to third parties and respect your wishes. You decide and we support you in doing so.

Perhaps you will not find your concern and your need for advice mentioned in the topics. Ask us anyway. We provide information and tips on other advisory services at Leibniz University Hannover.

  • Our basic approach to counselling
    • We take every enquiry/complaint seriously.
    • We advise in strict confidence. We do not pass on any information without consent.
    • We also provide counselling anonymously - use the counselling form on this page.
    • We work together to find a solution that meets your needs.
    • If necessary, we refer you to other counselling services and establish contact.
    • We continuously train ourselves and use our university, state and national networks and cooperations.
  • What happens when you report a case?

    Regardless of whether you are affected yourself, have observed a situation or are seeking counselling from us on behalf of another person, we take every enquiry/complaint seriously.

    • You first have the opportunity to talk about what you have experienced in a personal meeting.
    • We will discuss what options you have. You decide how to proceed.
    • If you only want to talk about what you have experienced and do not want to take any further steps, we will support you. If you want to actively take action against the violating or assaultive behaviour, we will also support you.

    Possible steps and measures:

    • Conversations with the persons involved (with or without you) or with superiors/teachers.
    • Consultation with other counselling centres (at LUH or city or region, police or lawyers)
    • Initiation of sanctions depending on the severity of the case, e.g. sanctions and measures under labour law (such as a warning) or exmatriculation.
We are also happy to advise you in other languages: Français, Español, Türkçe, Deutsch.
We present our offers!

We would be happy to come to your lecture, workshop, team meeting or assembly and present our offers. We also provide individual support for structural measures or actions planned in your institute, institution or team.
