Equality reports, plans and strategies at Leibniz University Hannover

The European Commission has introduced the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) as a mandatory eligibility criterion for the allocation of funding under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Gender equality thus becomes a fundamental cross-cutting principle in research and innovation. The Gender Equality Plan serves as a guide for future regular reporting on the progress made towards gender equality objectives and standards.

Gender equality strategies in the programme for female professors

Leibniz University has successfully applied for the third time under the federal and state government’s programme to promote female professors. You can find the equality plans for this nationwide funding programme here:

  • Living Parity: Equality as the Standard (2024)

With its gender equality plan “Living Parity: Equality as the Standard” ("Parität leben: Gleichstellung als Standard"), Leibniz University has been selected for the fourth time under the federal and state government’s program to promote female professors, thereby securing funding for the initial appointment of up to three female scholars to tenured W2 or W3 professorships.

With this concept, LUH is adopting new approaches to ensure gender parity at the university in the future. These include expanding gender equality monitoring to track the gender balance at various stages of academic careers and developing a gender-sensitive approach to the appointment process.
