Regular childcare in Hannover and at LUH

  • Childcare in Hannover

Since 1st August 2013, there has been a legal entitlement to a childcare place for children from the age of one. This legal entitlement can be fulfilled by a childcare place in a daycare centre or in daycare - i.e. with a childminder (Tagesmutter).

The City of Hannover offers parents a registration portal where they can find out about the childcare options in Hannover and register their child for crèche places, kindergarten places or after-school care places. This registration portal should always be the first port of call when looking for childcare in Hannover:

    Please note:

The responsibility for fulfilling the legal entitlement to a childcare place always lies with the city or municipality in which you live. If you do not live in Hannover, please contact your city or municipality. If you need support in this regard, please contact the Leibniz University Family Service at: familienservice@uni-hannover.de

  • Parental childcare initiatives near the university

In order to meet the demand for childcare places for children under the age of three, many parents initiatives have also been founded in Hannover and have set up childcare facilities themselves.
Many of these facilities are located in the immediate vicinity of Leibniz Universität.

The Studentenwerk Hannover offers a good overview of these parents initiatives on its website "Study with child". This overview can be found on the website under the item "Childcare" with the title "Parent initiatives near universities": Studentenwerk Hannover - Study with child

  • Company childcare places at Leibniz Universität Hannover

To complement the municipal offer, Leibniz Universität provides employees and students with company places for children aged 1-3 years in three different facilities. Parents can apply directly to these facilities if they are interested. Parents can find out how to apply directly on the websites of the three facilities:

The allocation of places with the three institutions takes place in agreement between the institution and the family service of Leibniz Universität Hannover.
