Free period products are now available at 3 LUH locations.
On the initiative of the Commission for Equal Opportunities and initially for one year, the project is funded in cooperation with the Studentenwerk Hannover and the Equal Opportunities. An evaluation will be carried out during and after the pilot phase. Users can take part in a feedback survey in both German and English via this link.
‘We want to make a contribution to combating period poverty and thus directly support students,’ explains Prof Dr Julia Gillen, VPL and Chair of the Gender Equality Commission. Period poverty refers to the fact that many menstruating women cannot afford any or sufficient period products. Students in particular find themselves in financial difficulties or emergencies due to rising prices and can benefit from the free offer.
Due to current logistical conditions, the dispensers for free period products are located in the toilets at the following locations:
- Basement floor of the main building, Welfengarten 1
- Zentrum für Hochschulspor, Campusfit, Am Moritzwinkel 6
- Wing E near the Audimax (also main building)
Free period products also at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science:
The decentralised Equal Opportunities Officer Jakob Marten has set up three more donors in parallel to the cross-university project at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. This is also a one-year pilot project. Locations & information can be found here: Pilot project: Free period products.
